hi.

I seek suggestions for an amplifier for B&W CM8 speakers.

I need an optical input.

price range is around 300-500 pounds.

Both used an new amplifiers is fine.

hope someone can give some advice.

For that budget?

The CM8's are good speakers and will benefit from quality amps.

Rotel is usually the amp of choice around here for b&w - they do a few amps with built in DAC's.

Again, I have to say older AV amps may be worth looking into.

Thanks for the comment!

Regarding the older AV amps, do you have any specific suggestions?

I would really appreciate it!

I agree with Thompson. Whilst the CM series isn't hard to drive, they do demand good quality amplification in order to perform well, and in your price bracket the Rotel's are ideal, and the only ones I'd recommend for the job. The RA10 will do as good a job as you could possibly wish for for the money, although if you can afford a little extra, the RA12 would be much better.

In my research big Rotel, Roksan and Harman Kardons did best with B&W when I was out there shopping for an amp.

Hi dskov

You should also look at used/discontinued amplification such as Rotel's superb RA-1062 and the classic NAD C370 and pair either with Cambridge Audio's DacMagic 100.

As for an AV amp, amplification such as an Arcam AVR350 is also worth bearing in mind.

All the best
