Hey,

First post on here and I'm very new to vinyl! Just looking for an amplifier and speakers to go with the debut III. Any suggestions? For the amp I had something by Cambridge in mind and for speakers the Wharfdale Diamond 9.1s (which are about £100). Budget is around £500 (~$810). Also, would an external pre-amp be something I should invest in or would an onboard pre-amp suffice?

Cheers

Tom

Unless you use a phono preamp, then your main amp will need a specific phono input.

With a similar first setup, I used a £50 Cambridge Audio phono pre-amp (a 540) because the turntable was sited at a distance from my a/v receiver which I used as amp. With the weak signal from a turntable, more chance of sound degradation over distance (and with mains cable interference etc) so better to convert earlier to a stronger Line signal for the journey to the amp.
