Hi,

I have tannoy v4 2 days ago and I appreciate these speakers, but I feel they need a good amplifier in harmony with them. I need an expert advice to take advantage of these nice speakers  . My limit price is 600 £.

Thanks

If you can push your budget up to £700 it will open up a few more options like Creek 50A £700, Arcam A19 £650 and Roksan Kandy K2 around £700. Look for ex-demo for £100 off.

Thanks for your reply. Yes, arcam a19 seems attractive but this is the maximum price I want to "invest". Are there other interesting amplifiers less expensive, working well with these speakers ?

Try the Rega Brio R £498 I haven't heard it with those speakers but seen other people

on various sites with that combo

The Rega Brio R is a good option and you can find them for about £400 ex demo but I found the Creek 50A to be better, more detail and control. 1 or 2 people on here have upgraded from the Rega to the Arcam A19. You really need to hear them before buying if you can.

There are plenty of good Arcam amps on the used market if you want to avoid spending all the budget. The Alpha 8 is a very nice amp, as are the A85 and A32. You might find an A18 too.

Also worth looking out for pre-owned Creeks. The Evolution and Evolution 2 amplifiers were both excellent.

Finally if you fancy checking out Rega at a more affordable price than the Brio-R, keep an eye peeled for a Brio 3. The R is better, but the 3 was still a very capable amp.

I see an arcam diva A75+ (second hand) around 250 £. Is it so good than A19 ? I hear that marantz pm 6004 works well with tannoy V4 but it seems me like a "standard" ampli...I don't know. Otherwise, there is "micromega ia60", it seems attractive.

I would look around, some bargains to be had, I saw an Arcam A19, only 2 weeks old go on ebay for £409 from a hifi dealer. The old Arcam are pretty good if ypu like that sort of sound but I think they are expensive considering the age. The Arcam 9s are also good but about £200.

I've also seem ex demo Leema's go for half price. If I were you I would go down the nearly new/ex-demo/display route, often come with full warranty.

Been looking up a Marantz PM6004 myself with the Marantz cd6004. I thought the regular advice was to spend as much as possible on the speakers with about half that amount on an amp. Perhaps I'm doing things the wrong way round.
