Hi all,

Ive been trying to do a bit of research but thought somebody may be able to point me in the right direction.

My new TV doesn't have RCA input and the amp doesn't have HDMI or optical either. My question is do I get some form of adapter or replace the amp for an AV receiver. At the minute I'm not interested in a sound bar although have looked at the Bose Solo system. I don't want to sacrifice sound quality and have a budget of about £300-£500

I currently have the following:-

Samsung UE46F8000 Smart TV

Marantz Amp PM5004

Marantz CD player CD6004

PS3

TDL Nucleus KV1 stand mount front speakers (oldies but goodies!)

Will be getting a Bluray player in the new year also

Thanks all

I presume you mean an RCA output to feed your amp, rather than an input.

If the TV has a Scart socket check in the manual as sometimes they do use this to output an analogue signal. (A scart to RCA adaptor is quite cheap to buy)

If your TV only has a digital output (Optical or Coaxial) then all you need to buy is a DAC to convert it to RCA analogue format that you can feed into your amp.

Hope this helps

Get a Maplin or Lindy DAC (£30/£35 respectively) plus a cheap optical lead and sorted (you won't need any extra connections for your new BDP apart from the obvious HDMI lead to your TV).
