Hello,

I'm in the market for small hi-fi speakers and an amp. I listened to the B&W CM1 S2's and really like them. Now I'm looking for an amp that fit well these little babies. My budget is around 800 dollars, it must have a digital input and at least some streaming capability (bluetooth, at best airplay or spotify connect). What would you recommend?

Thanks!

Where are you located Dennis?

The Yamaha R-N500 is within your budget. If you can borrow one from the shop or take your speakers there, you should try it out.

The RN500 was on my list, I find it weird that his Airplay and Spotify Connect but no Bluetooth.

The speakers sound a bit too sparkly, so the best would be an amp that counter weights that. Do you know if the Yamaha has that sound signature?

They are generally considered a bit warm and full. All new Yamaha's I've heard fit in that description. But it might not necessarily take the edge off the CMs.

you could also look at a Roksan Kandy K2 (find second hand or on offer, some on these forums were saying it dropped in price quite a lot) - and use a bluray player to stream that stuff and play CDs. Marantz PM7005 also fits the bill and should be in your price range if I remember correctly, and might be a good partner for the B&Ws..
