hi,id like some advice on cambridge audio 851 a & 851 c combined with my monitor aido rx8,would these form a good combo or what else could, and ideas would be appreciated.

I'm very happy with my arcam a38/cd37 combo so I would advise to try it if budget allows. I have also heard roksan k2 cd/amp combo with my speakers which also sounds very good and comes in a lot cheaper if your budget is tighter. I would also try roksan caspian m2 cd/amp combo if budget allows.

During my search it was suggested that creek and musical fidelity are a good match so these should be looked at if possible.

I haven't heard the Cambridge audio you refer to although I have been told they are forward sounding and so may not be the best match with the metal tweeter. However it's always best to judge for yourself where possible.

I personally would avoid Cambridge gear with MA Silver. From experience that would give an over-egged sound.A warmer or smoother amp/source such as Creek, Arcam, One of the Nads, MF would give a more agreeable sound, yet this is all really egg-pendent on the room acoustics layed.

thanx for the feedback guys, unfortunately i cant audition any of these where i sta so i have to make a choice and go for it,maybe the roksan kandy as i did here this is a good match.

I'd stay away from the Cambridge electronics, they would make the RX really bright.

Have a look/listen at some Marantz components. I find they partner great with the RX8.
