All tracks are MP3, DRM-free and are variable bit rate encoded at an average of 256Kb/sec .

Cheap too, new albums from £3

Just tried the Amazon site, took two minutes to get up and running with the Amazon MP3 downloader. It recognised I have itunes and loaded the Killers 'Human' track I bought for 59p instead of 79p straight onto itunes. The bit rate was 247Kb/sec. Now itunes has a true rival. The Kings of Leon 'Only the Night' album is £3 instead of £7.99. I tried a search on King Crimson and only one album is available as yet on Amazon, but I am sure availablity will improve. Hopefully the bit rates will improve over time as well. The site is easy to get about and much better than e-music which is full of obscure covers of major bands. Such covers are on the Amazon site as well if that is your type of music; 'Sleepy time with Pink Floyd' by the Tiny Tot Players is sacriledge, but very funny.

Just tried it, very impressed. Gorrilaz Demon Days for less than a fiver and good bit rate too, with no silly DRM, goes straight into ITunes.

Maybe a wake up call to those fruity folks?ÿ

hahahahaha, I've just streamed it on napster - it's brilliant!!!!

Oh a little OT (forgive me) but you were right about the Pioneer TT TerryFF!

As of posting this message itunes has as it's cheap music albums under £5.00, most of which are 1p under. Amazon has it's cheap music starting at £3.00. Itunes for a while had albums under £3.00, but if you had a look it was one album at £2.99, a Michael Jackson and then the Script. I have taken to adding to my itunes reviews the Amazon price where it is cheaper. Thankfully itunes publishes them, and other reviews by people have found music (CDs as well as downloads) cheaper at Amazon. I wonder who checks the itunes reviews before they are published, an Amazon employee?!

PS - for you Tiny Tot Player fans, try their stunning rendition of the Rolling Stone's Tumbling Dice.
