That Teac looks OK, but I think you'll get better for your money if you look at second hand.

Ah I'm too late for the Marantz, I will definitely be bidding on the NAD though. Hehe, the Marantz was 25 years old! Would it still have been better / more reliable than a more recent amp?

Maybe you're right. The Marantz would probably benefit from a thorough service sooner rather than later. It's a classic though.

The NAD would work well for you and its 'soft clipping' feature is designed to stop you over-driving the speakers.

There's a solid 4 star rating in the reviews section. Check it out.

Read it already! Looks like a great amp. I hope it / whichever amp I eventually end up buying can get loud enough for parties though.

The price sky-rocketed towards the end on that NAD unfortunately, went up to £275 which is way out of my budget. :(

This amp finding business is seeming impossible...

I'd really like something loud enough to use it house parties, and I presume from past computer speakers that 40 watts isn't enough to do that. But preferably a good sound quality still. Maybe I should just go for that teac on Amazon.

Yeah, shame.

There's this though....

That looks great, I'll try to bid on that. It seems from the questions he has a few very keen bidders already though.

I was wondering about amps like this:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PIONEER-VSX-420-K-AV-Receiver-black-NEW-/150549106614?pt=UK_AudioTVElectronics_HomeAudioHiFi_Amplifiers&hash=item230d6d0fb6#ht_1890wt_999

I see a lot of amps like this. No reviews and supposedly 130 watts for loads of channels...? Is the sound quality just awful?
