Am I too much of a worrier ?

Reason being, I had my kit on at a moderately loud level, i went out of the house to do a chore outside, when i got back in the cd was skipping and a nasty clicking, scratching abrasive sound was spitting out of the tweeters, I turned it off straight away, but now I am thinking can that have harmed the tweeters as in the same noise as an amplifier clipping, The units still work ok and still sound the same (I think) but as in clipping can this degrade the qaulty or would I notice if there was damage, as in disortion .

I think when you buy £650 speakers you become a little paranoid and protective about them .

If they still sound the same as before then they're probably ok.
