I've been really impressed by the M-1's and AS-2 sub in 5.1 setup, they perform much better than I would have expected from small speakers and look good, too. However, I can hear their shortcomings especially when it comes to dialogues and the centre speaker, which sometimes is a little unclear or quiet. I've compensated by manually dialling up the level on the centre in the meanwhile.

Would a new, larger centre speaker help? Could I for example move up to the HTM62, without making the front imbalanced. I listen mainly to music and am also thinking of upgrading the front L & R. Should I stick to B&W bookshelf speakers or could I introduce a second brand safely? I've seen some good prices on Dali speakers where I live, for example and the shop assistant claims they are a good match in tonality. The amp is a Yamaha RX-V661.

I'm surprised you're having an issue with your centre speaker, I have clarity in spades from all sources.

Before spending any money, double check your centre speaker is in phase with the rest of the speakers.

Failing that, an upgrade to a HTM62, or an LCR60/LCR600 from the S3 range prior to the HTM centres sounds ideal.
