Im looking at upgrading my system, and was thinking of somethig that will suit my R3 speakers and thought of all Rega. Whats the thougths out there, i will of course audition when the time comes. Dont know if im hearing my speakers at their best with the NAD amp

Initial thoughts apollo (Saturn at a push)with the MIra3 amp

Apollo for the CD player. It is a cracking machine.

The amp is slightly more difficult. The Brio 3 is superb and has a wonderfully musical sound. The Mira 3 is more grown-up sounding and has more headroom when the music gets more complicated. You really need to compare them side-by-side to decide whether the Mira is worth the extra for you.

Me? I would go for the Apollo/Brio 3 combination. I auditioned it at length with the R3s and it really is superb.

I heard a demo of all Rega system back with the original CDP and Mira amp and it was stunning. It was playing Bjorks album 'Debute' and it breathed life and dynamics into the album like I have never heard before or since. I see the set up Matthew rates is also highly rated by What Hifi in a recent edition of the magazine. It would be top of my pile to audition if I was to return to a traditional setup.

I won't be of much help but will say that either Apollo/Brio or Apollo/Mira + Rega speakers sounds like a great idea. It seems that the company's products really major on synergy. In fact, like idc would, I will consider it when I'm going back to full system, which hopefully will be very soon.

The absence of a remote is a sore point with the Brio, though...Whatever you do decide, note that WHF stressed the benefits gained by using Rega's own interconnects.

Another vote for the apollo, cracking cd player, and can be had quite cheaply now

The Apollo, R3s and Mira 3 is a cracking combination. Audition to see what works for you but if you can stretch to it, the pre/power combo is worth the extra:

Mira3 £600
Saturn £900
--------------
Total £1500

Cursa £750
Maia3 £800
Apollo £475
--------------
Total £2025

mira 3 and apollo is a fantastic combo

well worth a listen at just over a grand.

apollo £475

mira 3 £585

Total £1060

I had thought about the cursa/maia3 and the saturn set up but thought that then the speakers might hold it back. I really want to keep the speakers, love their sound and they suit the room size and WAF

. I missed out on a cursa ex demo going for 600, my fault i spent to long thinking about it rather that going to listen them making my mind up.

Would the Briio be much of a step up from my NAD tho?, the lack of remote isnt a huge issue but would be nice

Not sure really. The Rega R3s are excellent speakers and I'm sure you'd hear the benefit of the pre/power combo over the integrated. You should get gains in detail and dynamics. See what the dealer thinks, perhaps try phoning Synergy AV (Congleton).
