I am trying to find out if there is a home cinema in a box system that includes a HDD and also a freeview tuner. Would also like it to have HDMI output as well. Am i asking too much? I would really love to go with a seperates system but the missus and my 4 year old daughter have decided i'm not allowed.

Any help or advice would be gratefully received, about the hifi or how to change my familys mind

Women, hey? Tsh!

Any chance you can steer them into your local specialist dealer for a demo, next time you're out shopping (bet they drag you into clothes shops...)? Seeing and hearing a separates system in action - especially with a really 'wow' movie you know they both like - could be enough to convince them. I can't stress enough how important it is for 'non-believers' to experience just how brilliant even budget home cinema kit can be.

If you can convince them, your source could be one of the new breed of DVD/HDD recorders with Freeview built in - that's saved you a couple of boxes already! Full test of all the new models in our September issue, out July 26th.

If you lose the battle, LG's new home cinema in a box range (www.lge.co.uk) includes models with hard-disk drives, but no mention of Freeview tuners. But then, there are some really weeny ones out there. TVonics (available at Tesco and shortly under the Wharfedale brand name at Argos) does a fantastic Freeview PVR (hard-disk recorder) for sensible money.

Hope this helps and you don't end up with something in Barbie pink.....
