Hi I have purchased AKG K450 3 weeks ago from Superfi so they are no fakes I believe . I let them running in for 12 hours with different genres . I was expecting award winning sound but I was very disappointed .I would give them 3 stars of 5. They are too bassy ,muddy , high frequencies are rolled off , maybe they need more hours of running in . I have to use them with bass reducer on my iphone , my other pair is Shenns HD 25-1 mk2 they are much better but too big to wear outside. I've read that k451 are less bassy so it might be right sound for me . if you like warm sound than k450 are ok for you .but the best think is audition .I was too lazy to do it and now I am not happy with purchase .

I just tried the K450 and K451 in Richer Sounds and I'm so glad that someone else has heard what I did... muddy, boxy, rolled off treble! I'm going to post my own post about headphone choosing woes... It's a nightmare trying to find something that does it all and does it well!

I will trust my ears in future and NOT reviews...

The Soundmagic HP100 is very good, but strong in the treble and lean in the upper bass to lower mids. The Logitech UE6000 may be even better depending on how you play it (Passive mode flat, or Active mode with bass reduction). The v-moda M100 that's due in a month or so may be better than either of these, for ultimate sound quality and proper balance. I also use the Sennheiser Amperior, which has a big emphasis in the lower mids, but sounds very good to me albeit quite dark. And I have a Sennheiser Momentum on the way, which I hope sounds better than the Amperior.

Agreed with pretty much all of the above - for the £50 I paid the K450s are a good pair of headphones and just edge out my £35 iGrados for sound and especially comfort. But the AKGs do NOT compare to something like the Audio Technica 55s or ES7s which are way above the sound quality of the AKGs. That said they are well made, well-designed and comfortable and the cable only comes out of one side. But they can't compete on the sound quality front with other products costing just a little more.
