AirPort Express - demo?

Given I have deficiences (and a certain apathy) regarding streaming etc. Could anyone advise where I could listen to lossless streamed files.

I know many of you love it, so I need to test my own apathy (in other words, prove, once and conclusively) what an idiot I've been.

Are retailers who will set up a demo for me - and go through all the "nuts and bolts" of streaming, including the pros 'n' cons?

As you can probably tell, I'm cross with myself for not at least dipping my toe in the computer water and physically trying it.

We have a portable cd/radio that I can take, but I'd like to test this format beforehand.

The problem is that retailers will baffle me with technical jargon, I'll probably end up with something I don't really need.

after a good deal of thought. a 1 week home audition of a sonos/DAC /amp /speakers. I have decided to put the cd player away. and go all lossless.

I also decided to buy the ADM AVI 9.1 speakers and do away with any 'hi-fi' boxes in the living room at all. In fact my demo at bartletts in london was done entirely by listening to their speakers, whilst scrolling thru their laptop choosing lossless rips of cds and it was all sent by a sonos wireless system.

I bought the speakers, but am still undecided as to get the sonos, or the much cheaper logitech squeezebox, there will be no difference in sound quality just in functionality.

It deem seem daunting at first. But a couple of people on here literally walked me thru what i would need. and after that its no so bad.

1) rip your cd to a lossless format

2) play it via airport express, sonos, squeezebox.

3) it streams to your (1 of the above) that is either plugged into your amp or a better quality external DAC

which is into your amp.

4) comes out the speakers.
