Much like yourself I would imagine. The cycle of perpetual upgrading. Knowing you'd take a hit if you sold them on, so you just keep them.

Precisely the same reason I've got an Arcam A65+ boxed up in my loft, and a CD72T in a box under my Sister's bed at my Mum & Dad's! I've got no use/place for them, but it would kill me to sell them for a pittance.

The K702s, no the SR80s, err I would smuggle the lot in. If I could get the Grado electricals fitted inside the AKGs, but if can take my X-CANV8P amp and Fubar DAC, the K702s, just.
