Hello chaps!
I have just bought myself a quad 33 paired with 2 JR149 speakers, the quad has recently been refurbished by quad and the speakers are in good nick!
I will be using my laptop to play my music threw. I am wondering if you guys could give me some advice with the set up and wiring as I am a bit of a novice.
I Currently have my laptop plugged into “Radio 2” port (5 pin din) going to a RAC phono thengoing into a 3.5mm jack converter then into my laptop.
I am getting massive earth interference when the laptop is plugged in, with my old sound system I removed the earth from the amp plug socket ( I know this is very naughty !!) I really love my quad so I don’t want to that this time.
I have found on the net that “ground loop isolator” is the
cure? Are there any other suggestions that will be cheap (as I am a student lameo) but not hinder the sound quality ?
Also the speaker wiring and connections to the back of the power amp are, at the moment very crude.
What gauge/type wiring do you guys recommend ?
And what kit do I need to remove the earth problem ?
Thanks a lot Oli
