Advise on Record Player

Hello All,

I am planning to go for a Record player. My budget is around Rs 20,000 or $500. Can some one please advise me on what I should go for. I dont want to spend too much. I have heard about Rega. I dont have much Idea about Record Players and dont know what to look for when you buy one. I have Rotel 1070 & 1080 Pre Pwr combination which has a Phono stage. I use Monitor Audio GS 60 speakers with them. Can someone please advise.

I'd recommend the Rega P2 which is within your budget.

Yep, Rega P2 or Goldring GR2 if you can get one in your part of the world for the same price it's going for in the UK. Effectively a P2 clone, Goldring had the Rega deck, an RB250 arm and threw in their 1012GX cartridge as part of the package. Hi Fi World called it the best turntable under £300 when it came out a couple of years back, but admittedly, this was before Rega began manufacturing the P2 again.

If funds are tight though, the GR2 is worthy of serious consideration, but likely to be very limited by now (no longer in production).
