Advice Wanted Please

:help: Hi to all on the forums,pPlease advise if you can,I have been a music fan all my life and have a serious vinyl, cassete and cd collection gathering dust due to the digtal age we now live in,I listen to music via itunes oblivious to the lacklusture compression process that starves the music of its full depth and range untill resently,I just discovered channel d pure music software that has opened my years to music nirvana compared to what ive been listening to,further research into the fascinating world of audio has suggested the use of an external dac to improve the music further over whatever is inside my imac,so the question is what dac would benefit my system if needed and my speakers only have a standard jack connection ? spec- imac i7 16gig harman kardon gla55 many thanks steve. :cheers:

You could try putting one of these between your iMac and HK GLA-55 to see if it improves the sound:
