Advice on yamaha sound bar ysp1100

I am connecting to sky HD by optical cable, is there any way of splitting this cable so I can connect to a dvd player through this single connection (or are there other ways of connecting just as good?)

Also will it make a difference to upgrade the optical cable?

According to the Yamaha YSP-1100 tech specs, it has two optical, and one coaxial digital input, so you should be able to connect Sky HD and DVD player to the soundbar...

Also will it make a difference to upgrade the optical cable?

A contentious issue, but no, imo.
