Hi i currently use a older 32" samsung as my pc monitor but it doesn't have 1080p support so i am stuck at the native res of 1360*768 unless i hook it up via HDMI and run it at 1080i which tbh doesn't look that great. I decided it was time to buy a new 40" 1080p screen to use as my monitor hooked up via HDMI. I also have a ps3 and x360 i use on the screen but not very often along with sky HD which i use for the odd film and sport.

My first choice to replace it was the Samsung A656 it seemed like a natural replacment for my current samsung but i am also looking at the Sony W4000U. I was wondering what people thought about both TVs they are around the same price and from reviews doesn't seem alot in it. Unless someone can recommed another TV for around the £700 price range.

Thanks

I can say that I use my Sony 52W4500 as a PC monitor quite often and the picture is pin sharp, however there are a few tricks in acheiving said picture. First of all, try and avoid using the dedicated SVGA input as this is an analogue input.
Try and stay in the digital domain and use the HDMI output (or DVI with an adaptor) from your PC straight into an HDMI input on the TV. I have my PC screencard set to HiDef by default, namely 1920x1080 and more importantly, ensure your TV is set for 1:1 pixel mapping if you have that adjustment.
This ensures there's no cropping or scaling of the picture.
What you see on the screen is exactly what is being generated from the digital screencard.
You can't get a better picture than that!
