Jason, have you decided on your second pair yet?

I received my Denon AH-D2000s today and I am super impressed, the amount of detail these babies dig up straight out of the box is something else. Reviews say that because they are a closed design they lack the air /space of open types - well they sound fine to me! and a sizeable step up from my Goldrings.

Hmmm I wish it was that easy :)

+1

When my wife found out how much the Denons were she gave me a look that sent a chill up my spine (yes, I do have one before anyone mentions it!) :O

Hey Mitch,

The 2nd pair have been on the back burner for a bit.....but having recently gained an iPad I am now revisiting the headphone situation. At the moment I think it is likely to be down to either the AHD2000 (which I can get for £176.00) or the AHD5000 (which will set me back £319.00).

Obviously both of these prices offer a substantial discount of the RRP and will be used with iPad / iPod and main Stereo.....so if there was a massive improvement between the 2000's and 5000's I would have no problem paying the extra and getting the 5000 :)

Go with the 5000's, they do everything well.
I admit I have had a pair for a month or so now and they are rather good. They have a touch of sibilance but overall I also find them good for most genres of music and very comfortable to wear.

Yeah I know Mitch....he'll of a saving on both, bearing in mind the 2000's usually retail for £250 and the 5000's at £500 :)

Sorry mate ;-)

No worries, I didn't pay full price anyway but I doubt I would have been disappointed even if I had as I am really happy with them.

I tell you what mate if you think that's a bargain check out a company called BuyItPlayIt online......I have never heard off them before until I googled Denon AHD200. Apparently they are doing the AHD2000's for just over £100 and the AHD7000's for just over £300........WTF!!!! :? Surely that can't be right......possible fakes or foreign grey imports???? Those prices just seem to be too dam low.....unfortunately they do not have the 5000's otherwise I would have bought the whole dam lot :) Anybody heard of this outfit and whether they are bonafide or not? They have offices in Quebec, Belfast and Cyprus.

Hmm a little bit of reading and research and it seems that this website is a scam.....amazing how someone like google can be recommending them if that's the case....or more importantly why haven't trading standards taken the site down. Just shows it pays to do a bit of research.
