Hi,

I need to move my equipment around in my cabinet, how would you stack these items if you had to.

Note; only room to stack two items high.

Blu ray player

AV Receiver

Sky HD box

A.N.Other (does not radiate any heat or vibration) same size as Receiver.

The BDP and Sky box are on one side seperated by a removable shelf, the receiver is on it's own at the moment.

I cannot stack the receiver and A.N.Other, they will not fit height wise.

Edit: my main worry is should i stack the receiver and BDP together, if so which way round.

The receiver is usually the heaviest of all the AV equipments & should always be at the bottom of the sack, although your Denon 2500BT is not a small player itself.

Check my home cinema pics for the way I stacked my AV equipment. I made sure that heavier equipments are at the bottom & lighter ones on top of them.

My rule of thumb is that the items that produce the most heat go on top and if mounting devices in a cabinet, always ensure sufficient airflow.
I usually mount small, silent fans on at the top and bottom to keep things cool.

Small computer fans with a cheap power supply is an excellent way of doing this.
If you have the room available, it's also a good idea to use some sort of spacer to separate the units vertically so they don't try to cook each other (I have a rather large Onkyo reciever/oven in my rack)

Hi bigboss,

Thanks for the reply, do you think it would be safe to put either the BDP or Sky box on top of the receiver, I am concerned about the heat from the receiver.

There is a long and distinguished record of fried Sky boxes, so this is not a great idea. Sorry to be negative, but if you put ANYTHING directly on top of your AV amp, you will cut out most of the ventilation. Having spent all this money on AV kit, can you really not spare a little more on a rack which avoids stacking anything and prevents you wrecking the lot? Alternatively, can you put some of the kit in another place? My 'players' are all on my old hi-fi rack, in the corner of the room some way away from the TV/Sky box/receiver/centre speaker.

Yes, that's the general advice. I haven't had any problems stacking my Kuro box & blu-ray player on top of my receiver. I have ensured a good ventilation. My equipments, except the PS3, do not get hot.

As there's NO vent holes on the top of the 2500BT, I have sat the Sky box on it. that should be OK........Right?
