I am replacing my BraviaX 40 Inch LCD (after being burgled) and am thinking of either the BraviaZ4500 (lcd) or Panasonic Viera TH42PZ800B (plasma) and was wondering what people thought would be the better choice.

The only thing I did not like about my previous Sony was when playing on my PS3 (also stolen) and to a certain extent in films when panning there is noticeable blur - will the Z fix that with the 200Hz and motion tech or should I switch to the panasonic (my parents old plasma never seemed to suffer from blur)?

I will do my best to go get a demo but am interested in people's opinions.

Thanks.

I have the Z series and love it, I looked at the Panasonic as well but went with the sony the blacks are very good the whites are white, its bright full of life and I havent look back

If you like playstation and the like, go for a plasma! It might be the Sony is 200 Hz, but that doesn't remove the fundamental limitation of the LCD technology with regard to response times. Plasma is simply superior for gaming.

Furthermore the black levels on the Panasonic is just as good - if not better - than on the Sony.
