As alot of people know already i cant praise the Denon enough as i still think it stands up to the later players, its a no brainer to me.

Mind you Michael ive recently added a RA DCT treated Classic powerkord to mine & just when i thought the PQ couldnt get any better, it certainly has, soooo much sharper n crisper. well worth the investment, maybe its something you could consider in time mate.

I did a demo with the Denon and did not find it to be slow, by the time i had turned it on and got a disc and sat down it was nearly ready to go.

Hi guys and girls,

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but I'm looking at treating myself to a blue-ray player, and having read the thread on the Denon DVD-2500BT vs the DVD-2930, I'm sold on the SD DVD upscaling side of things. I don't actually own and Blue-ray discs yet, but I don't want to be a stick in the mud and would like to start building my collection. I'm not interested in BD-Live etc... so profile 1.1 players aren't a problem.

I currently have a Panasonic Full HD 32" LCD and will be getting (in a couple of weeks time) either a Denon AVR-2310 or an Onkyo TX-NR807. Still undecided but I'm leaning towards Denon at the moment as it seams to be the better ballanced and more of an all-rounder.

Anyway, back on topic:

My only question is how long are the load times on the 2500BT? I've never had the chance to play with one so I'm a little in the dark. Also, do these load times apply to normal SD Dvd's as well as Blue-ray discs?

I'm sure people like Jase and Davo2008 will have pretty good 1st hand experience with this. It's not a major stumbling block as I'm more interested in the performance, but I'd just like to have an idea what I'm getting myself in for.

Also, have any of the resent firmware updates yielded any positive results with regards to time etc...

Thank you in advance for all your help.

Kind regards,

Simon

Well as previously stated it can be slow on some discs , but quality is the end result

I demod one a few months back but was advised to wait for the WHF awards which I impatently did , but it was the difference in sound quality that won me over to the Denon 2500

Now available at £399.00 for a £900.00 Transport must be worth an audition against anything else

Thank you very much for the advice. I can't find anywhere near me that has stock or even a demo version so I think I'll just have to bite the bullet.

Where abouts can it be found for 399? The best I've seen so far is around the 499 mark.

Thanks again.

I seen it advertised on Sevenoaks website - you may be lucky if they have any left.

Hi,

Version 122 doesn't make it multi region. There is a V120 multi region available on the internet (which I am using and it works like a dream!), but no OFFICIAL denon firmware will allow it to be multi region. V122 apparently sorts out some issues with Inglorious Basterds (amongst other things).

Seriously, this player is so good it constantly blows me away! As you may have read by now, I also don't care about the load times. Even if it took 10 minutes I'd just make a double load of popcorn to compensate!

Hi Simon

You should be aware that you probably wont't be able to buy one on line as it is part of Denons policy to only sell instore.

In saying that it has just occured to me if that also applies to their amps especially as a lot of members use Denon recievers

Anyway as already suggested Sevenoaks might have some as they bought a large block of stock at £439.00

HiFix had at £399.00

Regards

Andy

The new mains cables make a difference yet? (Sorry, don't wanna start yet another cables debate!!!!)

I have just bought another Chord Power Chord, but was tempted by the RA deal....late xmas pressie to myself......

At £60 delivered, I thought this £120 cable would be another good addition, especially as I know how much of an improvement they make, having 3 of them already!!!

Hi Michael, and yes i had a good birthday thanks, the family took me for an indian and a few beers, right that said down to business ye? ha

If i where you id try it on your Denon 2500BT first mate as im still gobsmacked at the difference it has made with the Denon, ive just been watching "I am legend" on bluray & even though before a added the DCT classic its a great transfer however, with this kord its as sharper than ever, the detail is cracking, im sat shaking my head from side to side at the sheer beauty of the PQ the same with Gran Torino the quality just jumps out of the screen, amazing ! (sorry could rant forever about the PQ) Anyway you could try it on your bluray then you could give your amp a go with it, but id certainly consider getting another one for the price i really would mate, you wont regret it i can assure you ....

Can the 2500 be updated through the sd card?

Hi Bob

I have never had to update but I dont think you can via the Sd card , you have to burn a CD

It is also advised not to update unless you encounter problems with the player

Yes i agree here, that its BEST to do a firmware upgrade when your only encountering problems with your player.

Although its also good just to look on the changelog and see what the actual firmware does, you often find that the majority of the Denon firmware for the 2500BT is just for certain blurays that wont play, so like for e.g this latest firmware v1.122 is so it can allow the bluray "what women want" to play correctly so if your not going to intend on getting that disc then why bother??

However, you could go out and buy a new release on bluray and find it may not load or it freezes half way through etc so then you would have to use that firmware anyway as chances are itll correct it.
