Hi there, i'm new to the site so I hope i'm posting this in the right place... Basically I need some help with a set up i'm attempting to...set up... and thought i'd come somewhere people may have considered the same issues/ know their stuff. This brought me to you guys. So here goes... I already have one of these
wdfWDTV_Live.jpg

Through which I run all my downloaded TV shows and digital copy Films off a portable hard drive which works like a dream and has done for ages and i'm very happy with it.
However, what I am thinking of doing now, is getting one of these

..plus 2 additional hard drives (say a couple of 1TBs, or 1.5TBs), hooking it up to my switch that sits under the TV and connects everything on the ground floor of my house so that I 1) Have everything backed up twice in a single wirelessly and wired location and 2) Plug the WD TV Live player directly into this box via USB, removing the need to unplug my portable HDD and physically carry it between PC and WD player.
What I want to know is, will this work?I'm basically completely betting on the fact that the WD will be able to read straight from this NAS Stora via it's USB point. so before I try it I want to know if anyone can tell me that it definitely won't work?

I'm not sure but I don't think you can connect to the Stora through the USB port; I believe it's for further storage only (and perhaps a printer if it does print serving.

You'd need to connect the stora and your WD Live to the Switch over ethernet.

If you want large, redundant USB storage, you might want to look at something like a DROBO. There are varying opinions on them but I've always liked the look of them.

Ah that's a shame. Thanks for the reply though.

I actually don't have the WD drive with ethernet capabilities it's just the standard one without the ethernet port :(

Anyone have any idea what sort of NAS drive (if any) would work the way I want it to? Or am I gonna have to upgrade to the newest WD Live device?
