Just brought my first ipod at the ripe old age of 60 with the intention of playing Classical tracks on my cars cd system. I first checked the cars manual to see what make of mp3 would be compatible. Seems the software in the car is setup to use Apple ipods, so i purchased a Apple nano with a Aux cable to connect to the cars input. However the problem is i can hardly hear the classical tracks even when the main volume control on the car system is set to high. Can anyone offer any advise as to whether this problem can be resolved. P.S. i may be 60 but my hearing is o.k.

Have you checked the ipod volume is set to maximum, suspect that it's set to minimum.

My old cassette adaptor had a similar problem. Even setting the ipod to maximum volume I would need to turn the stereo up more than radio listening. Then a track would come along that was defening. As weel as checking the ipods volume make sure 'Sound Check' is on in Settings.

Another suggestion, assuming that the cars CD has a 3.5mm mini jack input is to use a Line Out Dock such as this;

The LOD bypasses the ipods volume and so all the volume is controlled by the stereo. That should make it easy to set. The above LOD is £26 and available from Russ Andrews. I have a different version of the same cable and the sound is great and they are well made. If it does not work they have a returns policy.

idc. This LOD is the answer, I have one and it works great with my small portable amp when pluged into the bottom of my itouch and ipod and then connected to the amp.

Thank ÿyou to those who responded to my query re my ipod problem. I made sure the volume on the ipod was set to high but i am encouraged by the advise re the LOD connector. First i will check the settings on the ipod but it looks like a new cable is needed. Thank you again to those who gave advise.
