Hello,

I have a friend who has B&W CM1s and Naim CD5, and would like to upgrade his elderly Amp,

I know what I would recommend but would like the opinion as to what to replace it with.

Budget is about £800 ish, music is very wide range of genres.

Would any of you learned people like to offer an opinion please...........

True Blue:If they dont mind 2nd hand / ex dem / used a Naim Nait XS would be the way ahead for around £800.

I would expect to have to pay more than £800 for a good used XS.

Example... £1020 and bidding is still going for another day yet.

Another vote for the Nait 5i. I actually thought it was better than the XS - and the Densen I had.

Really depends on what his existing amp is...if it's elderly fair enough, but if it's in the "brilliant" category then that probably deserves at least a rethink!

Hi,

Thanks for all the replies, his current amp is 100wpc Onkyo, not sure which model but its got to be about 30 years old.....

Ps my recommendation was also the Naim 5i......
