Hi,

I was wondering what think about adding subwoofers to stereo systems.

my current system is made up of a :

Yamaha s500

B&W 685's

my inputs include a cambridge audio 650 tuner and CD player and a computer running through a roland quad capture.

I dont have the money or space to go for floor standers however adding a sub is possible. I was looking at the cambridge audio S90 however i don't know if this will give me what i need in terms of qualioty of sound however the reviews seem to be all good for it.

any advice would be much apprecitated and my budget is no more than £200

I'm not a huge fan of subs in 2.1 set-ups for music, they can sound great but need careful setting up.

If you have your hear set on a sub then the BK range are hard to beat for value, the Gemini comes close to your budget. Anything cheaper and I really wouldn't bother as you'll get bloated bass rather than anything of real tune that will enhance your sound.

If you can stretch to the XLS200 great. I have the XXLS400 and it's perfect for my needs.
