Hi guys...

I am happy with my set-up of Naimuniti complete with X2 speakers.

Loving the sound on The Orb, Lemon Jelly, basically ambient/ chilled music, but what shoud I do if I want to experience a different style?

As a complete novice is there additional equipment I am able to add to increase the bass to a thumping in the chest feel when I listen to Rock, Hard Dance etc...

Would rather not have 2-sets of speakers or trade on what I have.

Buy a sub, or better still visit Wembley / 02 / B'ham arena et al. This is one of the shortcomings of home hi-fi, its doesn't really in the final analysis sound like real live instruments. I take it you have understanding or no neighbours

*laughs*...

turn of the centuary 1900 house with walls around a foot thick. The music room is also separated by another room to the neighbours.

Regards

In my former life I lived in a detached new house and my neighbours behind me could hear the NAD / B&W at full chat. There is only so much acoustic insulation that double glazed windows can provide. Unfortunately now I live in a 1920s semi with specially designed resonant wall cavities that permit audible conversation between neighbours. I can only assume they were built like that to warn each other of impending invasion from the English.....

I suppose it depends now much dosh you have to spend. A subwoofer would certainly be the easiest and cheapest option. However I can't imagine it giving you pumping basslines without overpowering the speakers - a sub in a stereo set-up is designed only to fill in the lowest frequencies that the stereo speakers can't handle. The sound pressure levels generated need to be in proportion to what the main speakers are doing otherwise you'll have huge deep bass but no impact higher up the frequency range which is just as important.

The Naimuniti has 2 RCA sub outputs...

"sub output (2 Mono outputs via RCA),"

So you can use two subwoofers.

Thank you Chebby...

Unfortunately I am only a listener of music rather than an indepth follower of what I actually have *blush*.
I am guessing that the two ports are for subwoofer connections only or could other attachments be added?

At the time of the purchase I listened to 3 differing set-ups and the Kudos sounded amazing. Punchy in the bass and not overpowering on the sound. It was the prototype I listened to and the slightly modified version landed (improved).

I reckon the larger room is an influence, but it is now bugging me a little on the sound when listening to other pieces of music and would love to enhance. 🙂

I have heard the PMC GB1i speakers with the Naimuniti sounding very respectable in the bass but I am not sure that even they are going to provide the chest cavity resonating onslaught you crave.

I would suggest something like the larger examples from the ATC SCM range (SCM40s maybe) with their own ATC amplification.

Yes this is what I was eluding to as well. I am getting some very satisfactory results with a pair of Neat Momentum 3i speakers that I'm trying out. You could get a Naim power amp for your Uniti and then try some beefier speakers

I have heard the ATC amp through a set of older but good B&W floortanders, cant recall which ones, and boy its got some grunt. I like the industrial design too, it looks like you could dig holes in the road with it.The thought of pairing up ATC's amp and some of their floorstanders is bordering on frightening.
