My kitchen has an amp and speakers and a tv, its all a bit cluttered. I never knew about all these advances in tech with spotify and chromecasts and internet.

I'm going to shrink it all. Can anyone recommend a pair of active speakers with a remote for volume in the circa 100 pounds/ 120 euro area, or am I being to tight on budget. Thanks

i don't know for sure, but if you connected via headphone socket perhaps the tv would control the volume. I suppose it would depend on the TV.

Thanks, its just for music.

I have a receiver and a bdp and a tv in the corner. I'm happy with the tv as is and just want a second smaller music set up that an inexpensive usb dac into for my chromecast and the bluray and the laptop on occasion. I'll ditch the receiver and maybe even the bluray. I have a good enough set up in my main room, so a small footprint set of active speakers may be what i need. The remote is nice to have though I know the device app controls volume, but I prefer to have the device up and control volume with the actual speaker.

Maybe a single speaker option would be ok, its an option I had not thought of

Sorry, I misunderstood. I have a Bluetooth speaker in my kitchen (albeit nearer £300), although it has volume controls I never use them, preferring to use the phones/iPad volume.

In my bedroom, I didn't want clutter, but a boost to tv sound and also to listen to music via Bluetooth. I got the Sony HXT100 soundbase from Amazon for £90. It's not the obvious solution but it does a good job.

re. the kitchen, I gave up throwing money at a system as my kitchen acoustics are rubbish.

Thanks. I'll put it on my list to check out

Particulaly if you want remote control, cheapest I know of is Tibo Plus 2 from Richers £149. Does a lot for the money, plenty of inputs, analogue and digital, would seem to fit the bill if the budget will stretch.

No idea what they sound like though.

Alternative would be the kind of 'multi-media' type speakers you can get from pro type stores. Loads to choose from around the £100 mark, look for Alessis, Samson Mackie etc, likely to be more potent than the Tibos, but less flexible and no remote control.

Thanks for that. The more I look the more I think a wireless single (bluetooth or bluetooth/wifi) speaker will do the trick as lomg as it has an analogue input. I'll look at all the recommendations and do a bit of research myself also. I found an "AUGUST WS300" on amazon that looks pretty good.

Thanks all for the suggestions

TBH, I've never heard of them, I bought a friend of mine something similar by Edifier she loves it. I'd rate the sound no far behind a Bose Soundlink Mini but functionally better.

If you don't find the idea of a soundbase too unwieldy, Amazon have a Deal of the Day starting at midnight on a Sony. I'd guess the deal price will be somewhere less than £150, if that's not stretching it too much.

Sony HT-XT1 2.1 Channel TV Base Speaker with Built-in Subwoofer and All-in-One Sound Box Design (170 W, S-Force PRO, Bluetooth and NFC) https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00HRW0ED2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_LscWxbP5JM33X

the 6th pic along in the ad shows the rear inputs, but it ALSO has Bluetooth and NFC
