Thinking of getting one but the seller wants close to £600. Faults include a crackly volume control (on start-up only, which leads me to believe it may be more than simply a little de-oxid - this particular part is not available originally anymore so I would have to source a suitable replacement). In addition only one of the speaker sets can be used, not a problem and probably fixable but nevertheless, another issue.

Thinking of making an offer much lower, perhaps in the region of £400.

Any thoughts or experiences with this model?

No experience of this particular model, but it view of it's age and issues, well worth trying a lower bid and if you feel confident of being able to fix, you will have a quality amp on your hands.

I've put in an offer but it was declined immediately.

I try to be realistic when buying something, taking into account possible cost to get it right.

That and the fact that I am very happy with my ueber engineered Sony.
