Let's calculate the energy that can be stored by the PSU for short bursts in transient peaks.
E = 0.5 * C * V² measured in Joules (J) of energy.
A typical integrated amplifier would have a power supply with around 20,000uF at 63V.
E = 0.5 * 0.02F * 63V² = 39.69J
Now, the Abrahamsen V2.0 UP and the power amp version V4.0 UP.
E = 0.5 * 0.1F * 80V² = 300J
A defibrillator used to revive people with cardiac arrest shoots 120J-200J through the pads. 300J is for very very very dead.

Perhaps Colin should offer an optional set of compatible defibrillator pads and gel as a package with the Abrahamsen amps, then if a customer suffered a heart attack due to over excitement caused by the incredible dynamics and sound quality they could be revived quickly and get back to listening .
Perhaps the NHS might be interested in a trial unit, they are bound to be more cost effective than the current units and could double up as a music system to soothe the patients back to health as long as nothing too exciting was played to avoid damage to anyone with a weak heart . *smile*

I wonder what gel thinks about this. Could be a great career for him to tour the UK with Ambrahamsen amp in a backpack, reviving audiophiles from Tom Evans preamp fires. Defibrillators are just charging and discharging a bank of capacitors, so you can convert the Abrahamsen v2.0 UP to a defibllirator literally.

Sorry I just had to get the last link in somehow .
I'll stop it now. *biggrin*

Might as well link the poor guy to a trolley.
