Hi. Can you please share your experience on this---When can an a/v receiver outperform a dedicated 2 channel stereo amplifier musicwise. Or can it? In addition, just wondering if a mid priced a/v receiver would beat a budget 2 channel amplifier in stereo quality assuming that both brands are reputable? Cheers!

I can't fully answer your question, however I can say that my fathers Roksan Kandy k1(£800 ish) beats my Onkyo 905 AV receiver (£1400 ish) hands down. in fact his old Arcam Alpha amp (probably around 20 years old) sounded better. Bear in mind that while the Onkyo isn't the most musical AV Amp, it is not considered too bad for an AV amp at it's price point.

Having said this, it is not bad when taken in isolation, however I would compare it's ability to budget stereo amps (perhaps around £300 ish).

EDIT: I just realised how similar our kit is :)
