A/V receiver from United States ?

Hello,

I can get a new Sony A/V receiver, specifically the STR-DA6400ES, from the US in a very good price.

Apart from the electricity problem are there any other problems operating the receiver in Europe, e.g. video and audio processing problems ??

All I can say is DONT DO IT!!!!

Im sure others will agree, I have done it twice because the price was so attractive.

The lack of warrenty

Noisy transformer

Less performance

Are the main reasons for not doing it. You are much better off spending the money on a UK model.

.. and bear in mind, unless the supplier marks it as 'gift' (in which case is generally not insured), you will get stung for a nice chunk of import duty and VAT before its delivered to your door.

Thanks guys.

Basically I live in Cyprus and not in UK . The import duties we pay for US imports are only 15% of the item's price based on the invoice of purchase - and even with this believe me the cost is still half the price to what we get in Cyprus.

I just wanted to know whether there are performance issues but as I can see from your answers it seems there are - apaft for the noisy transformer
