How 'bout a pair of PMC GB1 floorstanders (around 1100 quid)? Extremely compact floorstanders from a legendary company with great reviews everywhere! (http://www.pmc-speakers.com/31.html). Also for a bit more money at 1300 pounds you can get the excellent AVI Duo's (http://www.avihifi.co.uk/Duo/Duo.html).

Also well reviewed were the 500 quid Castle Columns (http://www.castle.uk.com/pages/compact_column.htm) - very small but believable bass.

Finally, worth trying are also the cheaper tiny but competent Epos ELS303 floorstanders (400 quid) (http://www.epos-acoustics.com/product_view.asp?name=els303) and the 450 quid refined (though a bit 'light') Rega R3 (http://www.rega.co.uk/).

Check any of these in accordance with your budget.

Good luck! :)

Hi Razz

Many thanks -

I am also considering the Monitor Audio RS8 - Could any of you used these speakers ?

Oh yes, i have had a pair for about 3 weeks and they are sounding better now than they did out if the box. The bass seems to be hitting harder and the treble is opening up now, they did not seem to soundstage much at first, voices spread out a bit from centre, however they do focus better now.

Monitor Audio recommends 60 hours of run in, i've probably done 25 so far and are looking forward untill these are fully prepped! Mind you i did have a pair of Dynaudio Contour 1.3 mk11's so i should really have gone up to the GS range but, the wife put a stop to the GS60 purchase for being too much on the wallet.

I think MA have done a good job with the RS8 as regards to sound per pound, too good as i think they are closer to the GS60 than the money suggests!
