Hiya guys, I've just arrived in the 21st century (or just about to) and I've sort of decided on most of what I want for my Home cinema set up.

I'm getting the Sony KDL-W4500 52" Tv, a PS3 and Sky HD ................. what I'm missing is a speaker package.

I've got around £500 (ish) to spend and could really do with your advice as I have no idea what I need to make the above sound good.
I'll be using it to watch SD and HD TV, as well as gaming through the PS3 so I need good connectivity through that lot. This is the thing that worries me most as I want decent sound to come through all sources and I haven't a clue what I'm doing.

I do have my old Sony RDR HX1000 DVD/HDD recorder but I could ditch that if a I got an all in one system.

Preferabley a 2.1 system, a soundbar or a 5.1 system with wireless rear speakers is what I'd like - wires going under carpets or around the room are not an option.

I wouldn't mind if it was an all in one system or seperates. I am a Sony fan - always had them and they've never let me down but I'll happily look at any manufacturer recommended by you guys.

Thanks in advance and any advice will be appreciated.

As a Sony fan, and as you're buying a Sony TV, the Sony DAV-F200 is an excellent 2.1 system that might meet your needs and is well within your budget at £350. OK, it won't give you full surround sound, but it still delivers a clear, open sound with plenty of power from the subwoofer. And you won't have to worry about rear speakers/cables.

The only snag with the DAV-F200 is that it only has one optical digital input, so if you want to hook up your PS3 and Sky HD box simultaneously you'll need two optical inputs. A SoundBar like the Yamaha YSP-600 has more inputs so you could have both components permanently hooked up. And it's even better value now the price has been cut by £100 to £400.

Thanks Andy,
I read the review on that one and took myself down to a sony centre to have a listen and it did sound great, that one is definately in my shortlist.

Andy, Thanks for the info re the Yamaha Soundbar.
I've had a look at the YSP-40D as well and seen it for sale round the £800 mark - I could possibly stretch to that. With me having no technical know how at all do you know (or anyoine else reading this) if I would be able to set that up with the Tv, PS3, Sky HD and my DVD player all at once ?

Once again, thanks.

Thought I saw something in News on here which said Sony were about to release an equivalent system to the DAVIS10 but with wireless rears. Will they do this across the range because this maybe an option ..assuming they test well, that is ?
