Hello audiophiles!

A year or so ago I got myself an external USB DAC (M-Audio Fast Track MKII) as a heaphone amplifier.

A month ago I got myself a nice 10" Yamaha subwoofer. I ditched the headphones, connected my old and shitty Philips MC-70 micro system and hooked the sub to the subwoofer output. I enjoy listening to music more with the speakers.

I'm not sure if the speakers are any good though, as I've only used general PC speakers before, and my AKG K77 headphones (which are pretty neutral for being only about $60).

The speakers I'm using are Philips MC-70 speakers. It has ferrofluid cone dome tweeters, 5.25" flat metal cone woofer and a 2-way bass reflex, 2x50W RMS.

Now, I'm thinking of selling the DAC in order to buy an Yamaha A-S500 stereo amplifier, and hooking it up to my motherboard's audio chip (Gigabyte Z77X-D3H with VIA VT2021 chip.

I found a review of the motherboard's sound chip, which states that it's not a bad chip (scroll down for summary):http://aphnetworks.com/reviews/gigabyte_ga_z77x_ud3h/12

I'm planning on buying Monitor Audio BX2 bookshelf speakers in a few months, to replace the shitty speakers, and maybe getting an Asus Xonar STX card. The card is almost 200€ here, which is a bit expensive for me.

Here's a link to the Yamaha A-S500 amp: http://usa.yamaha.com/products/audio-visual/hifi-components/amps/a-s500/
