What do you mean?

I must admit, I miss being able to go to a local high street and browse music - any music! - like I used to.

But a combination of Amazon plus specialist vinyl suppliers (especially at shows!) and eBay purchases feeds my vinyl habit very nicely. A bit too nicely recently, really, judging by the credit card bill i got this morning

Indeed! Wish I hadn't seen this thread myself - and THAT link now... I could spend a small fortune just on the front page itself!

The thing is, I had a really good 2nd-hand record shop just down the road - closed down in July (not for economic reasons - the guy who owned it simply decided it was time to enjoy retirement). Bought half my vinyl from there and really really missing it!!

That`s great news David! Think it was either the first or second quarter of this year when turntables outsold cd players for the first time in many, many years. Probably twenty or so I shouldn`t be suprised.

Clicked on the link and instantly spent £200 in my mind, just on the front page. The Abba box set would be nice and also `The Promise` by Bruce Springsteen. His last couple of albums have sounded pretty compressed on cd so the vinyl edition is very tempting indeed. Shouldn`t really spend too much money with you know what just around the corner but maybe I could put it on my pressie list. You never know your luck!

I guess I'm lucky here in PDX: Jackpot Records ~50% Vinyl, Music Millenium ~20%, and E&M Music ~20% Vinyl I'd take a guess.

Jackpot is the closet to me, and I always find something new and great to buy. Sometimes the Vinyl arrives a week or two later than the CD, there's plenty of choice and far more there than I can buy.

Clare Newsome:More than 300,000 of the big black discs for sale here....

Bretty will have most of those snapped up by the end of the month!

I've been working on it.

I worked out that i've now spent just over £700 on vinyl, in three months. You gotta spend it on something though, right?

The thing that makes me think 'b*gger', though, is that if I hadn't spent so much on records, i'd have my Gyro up and running now.

So, I'm having one more splurge on records today, but then no more until the Gyro is in place. Honest.

All the different website-based companies... I used to enjoy having the heady whiff of dust up the nostrils, and flicking through numerous catagories or even ordering your fav and waiting a week for it to be delivered.

Ah, that's the thing isn't it! Took me months to upgrade my stylus because I kept spending money on records, and then when I did get it, all I wanted to do was buy more records but couldn't as the money had been used for the stylus! The joys of the hobby eh!
