7.2 Subwoofer set-up

Amp - Onkyo TX-SR608

When adding two sub woofers say to this or any other 7.2 channel amp, would both sub woofers preferentially need to be the same?

Depends on placement to a degree, but definitely preferable as the reason to have 2 subs is produce a more even soundstage, if you have a misbalanced power output it may defeat the purpose.

That's a bit of an overkill for the TX-SR608, IMO.

I'm using 2 different models admittedly the same brand which sound great much improved over just the 1 its smoothed out the boominess i sometimes used to get with certain discs with two running its just not there now.
