This may sound silly. If I were to play a BD with 5.1 DTS-MA into a system with 7 speakers, would the sound effect be heard from all 7 speakers? Thanks

Only if your receiver applies some kind of processing, such as PLiix, so that the surround channels are sent to the surrounds and surround backs. It can work well and be really enveloping.
