Have purchased a pioneer vsx924 receiver and a tannoy tfx 5.1 surround sound speaker package but want 2 extra surround speakers for 7.1 just want to know the best place to put them either front high or left right side to sitting position. Thanks

Yup that's how my 7.1 setup is layed out. Sounds great. Actually my Surroundbacks are a bit more directly behind me about 1m appart.
The Sub doesn't need to be where Bigboss's picture suggests. That depends on your Sub and where it likes to be in the room.
If possible have the center and the front L&R the same distance from your seating position and if you can get get the surround and surroundbacks above ear level when in your viewing seat.
