5.1 speakers plus amp for budget of £500 whats best?

I want to get a 5.1 surround system and amplifier for a budget of £500. What is the best option for me (for medium to small lounge), any help would be most appreciated.

Hi Scott

Have you considered any models in particular? It's a tight budget for both, but one option would be the Tannoy HTS-101 (all satellite spakers and idea for small rooms) for £350.. and perhaps the Yamaha RX-377 (or slightly cheaper RX-375) amp at £250. Shop around and you might be able to find both cheaper than I've quoted.

Thank you for your help Becky, I've read some good reviews on the Tannoys and I think Richer Sounds are doing a deal for the Tannoys and the RX-377 all for £500 that you recommended. so will just have to see how well I can barter the price down on cables so I dont go over budget!! but thanks again.
