Hi, has anyone bought one of these beauties yet?

Very keen to know how they perform in a real life situation!

Also has anyone seen a price better than £718.94 delivered? (xomy.com)

I have read that the 50" has a little noise on SD however i would guess that it would less apparent on a 42".

Shame you can't see it earlier as i was looking to buy either this or the 37PX80 in order to have it delivered mid-week!

Cheers,

JSM

looking at HD on the 50" is great as with any other tv on HD but SD there is some noticeable picture noise.... even standing further back than usual

Hi Matt, yeah i had read that some picture noise was apparent on the 50" but i am thinking that on the 42" this would be less noticeable?

Did you play around with the settings to try and reduce noise?

Hey Matt, yeah it was the 37PX80 - 42" is too big really for my lounge room. Was close to getting it the other day but then i sorted my g/f out with the new Toshiba 32AV504 (base model) and was so impressed with it that i am now considering the Tosh 37XV503 Full HD which i can get for £547 after vouchers, cashback etc.

I had pretty much decided on plasma til i saw the cracking picture (especially standard DVD thru component) on her Tosh, blacks were good (20,000:1 dynamic) and motion was handled very well.

Have you seen the new Toshiba's?

nope.. but remember the shop settings are very bright and in your face ^^ i would never reccomend a LCD over plasma in 37+...

if the toshiba looks better than plasma on sky sports news (scrolling text) and on sports... then go for it :)

Watch very little sports but do have Sky News on a fair bit so will check out the Tosh on that channel - i know it wont look better than the plasma but taking into account the price difference and the fact that it's Full HD and physically looks a more attractive set i would keen to see how it handles some more challenging material.....
