Going to look at these 2 sets hopefully tomorrow but after talking to a sales guy at a well known AV store he tells me that from his experience he would choose the 40z4500 over the 40z5500.

Also i play alot of games and from what i can gather the 40z4500 has very little input lag compared to the 40z5500 and is regarded as one of the best TVs for gaming.

I know i may loose a little in terms of blacks if i go for the 40z4500 but other than that is there anything else that sets these two sets apart?

I am swayed by the 40z4500 at the moment.

the 5500 has much better sd because of the bravia engine 3 , the 4500 has better sound , the 5500 has sonys applicast , and as you say , better blacks ..

I saw them both in the local Sony Center this week and thought the quality of the 4500 with HD content was better, however, the 5500 was much better with SD.

I came to the conclusion the 5500 would be better suited to all situations, the 4500 would be amazing with HD but I would find it lacking with SD and therefore ruled it out. Oh, I also think the 4500 is fairly ugly, 5500 has a little more "style" to it, but I think that's just my thought!

I want to see the Samsung 40B8000 & 40B7000 and the Samsung Z5500 side by side running the same demo disk before I take the plunge, the only issue being I've not been able to find anywhere that has all 3 in stock!

I went out looking at the sony TVs but couldnt find a z5500, Altho i did see a w5500 next to a z4500 and the pictures looked very similar but the w5500 looked better at handling motion. For some reason when i tried to access the motion flo on the z4500 it says it was unavailable so could not see what setting it was on, it was on standard on the w5500.

The z4500 SD picture was as good as the w5500 when watching football.

The LED samsungs impressed me the most, colours seemed a little high tho, they didnt look as natural as the sony so im still no better off, still need to find a z5500.

Does anybody know how the input lag compares on the z5500 to the z4500 as ive heard the z4500 is alot faster?
