Hi

I called my local AV chain store today and was told the 40w5500 was out of stock. They pointed me towards the LG 42LH4000 instead, saying it was a better set. I cant find a whole lot on the LG - is it any cop?

However it appears that now there are fewer 40w5500 units suffering from the backlight problems (judged on comments across many forums - i am unsure of the truth in this) but i can get it at the store for £769 which seems pretty damn good value for money - and i can see the set to ensure there are no huge backlight problems.

Before i trot down when they have one in, is there another set that is cheaper AND can rival the 40w5500 for my £800 max (MAX) budget? Any samsung, panasonic or LG that can outperform for the price?

Thanks in advance to all

I doubt there are fewer sets with the issue now, just that the people who were posting everywhere about the issue at the start have all moved on and found other products / companies to start campaigning against (probably something to do with Apple) so you're only seeing the actual number of issues being reported now i.e. very few.

In other words, looks like great value to me!

I just wish thje W series had kept the 10 bit panel.I can find difefrence in colours between the w4000 and the w5500. the LH4000 is a very good set.one little thing i've noticed is that the side of the panel is a little darker than the center.
