For speakers that drop to 4ohms, the 6ohm should be used (if the receiver doesn't have a 4ohm setting). Although, I wouldn't worry too much about it if you don't use the receiver at very high levels. The 6ohm setting will reduce the dynamic capability of the receiver, which you dont need at normal levels (up to about -20 or -15dB roughly).

So at normal levels up to -20db the sound quality will not change? and at higher volumes there will be compression to avoid oveeload? So should I use the 6ohm setting? Most give nominal impedance but ms say 4-8ohm. Confusing. Is this issue only for 2ch or for 7.1 since the manual says 'if you use 4ohm FRONTs?

Cheers

The receiver will be dynamically restricted if using any 4ohm or 6ohm setting. If you're using your receiver around the -10dB up to Reference level, it is recommended to use it. I'd say its a little less important in two channel mode, but 5.1, and particularly 7.1 will put more demand on the receiver's transformer.
