I am thinking of dipping my toe into the world of 3D TV.

Do I need a new amp (currently have Sony STRDA 2400ES) or can the Sony feed 3D video and audio through HDMI?

Will I need to split the audio and video, and feed the video directly to the tv, bypassing the amp?

Currently have a PS3 which I assume is 3D ready after firmware updates and Virgin HD box.

Do I need new HDMI leads that support 3D or is that just a myth?

Dont really want to purchase a new amp on top of the expense of a new TV.

Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

What dd suggests would work, but then you'll only get standard Dolby Digital/DTS, not the HD versions. The best bet is to find a 3D-capable Blu-ray player with multichannel analogue outputs, and feed sound in analogue to the Sony amp's multichannel analogue inputs, or a player with twin HDMI outs, and use one direct to the TV for the 3D video, and the other to the Sony for sound.

Thanks for the response.

Forgot to ask about 3D content from the V+ HD box.

I assume it would be similar, video via HDMI to the tv and audio optical out to amp?

Thanks.

It depends on which HDMI leads you have, I've got some 18 month old QED HDMI-P leads (1.3b) in my wall and they transmit full HD 3D from my Blu ray and half resolution 3D from my sky HD and V+ HD box (both of which require less bandwidth). So your existing cables may do fine.
