Hi i wonder if any of you guys could help. I currently own the Sony DH100 AV reciever and am looking to purchase the Sony S770 3D ready blu ray player. Iam not interested in watching any 3d blu ray movies until i purchase a 3d tv. Will my DH100 work with the S770 for just watching standard blu rays or will i have to purchase a 3d ready reciever?

Hi njgjoker, i think it will only work if you have multichannel outputs on your receiver and DVD , your HDMI wont have the audio return channel required to get the sound otherwise.

Hi,

Not familiar with the model but on checking the following page;

http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10551&storeId=10151&langId=-1&productId=8198552921665788574#specifications

it seems this is a stereo receiver with no HDMI inputs.

You will be able to connect via analogue stereo outs from the BDP to the amp. You may be able to use optical out if the amp has an optical input (can't see from spec sheet).

You will not get surround sound but if your current TV has an HDMI input you will get HD picture using an HDMI to connect the BDP to the TV.

Cheers,

Cofnchtr.

I'd get a new receiver. One of the best things about blu-rays is the HD sound. Maybe get the S570 BD (still 3d capable) instead of the S770 and put the £100 you save towards a receiver.
