i recently setup my first system onkyo 606, tannoy f4 fr, f1 rr and centre to match.

its been running well for a few weeks its been amazing playing ps3, sky hd and a few blu-rays.

i decided to really christen the system tonight i bought the dark knight on blu-ray and me and my gf settled down to watch the surround sound was amazing and picture quality just as good, i had a little problem tho i had the volume at a decent level when the action picked up (explosions gun fire etc) it was really loud and i turned down the volume then when the action died down the speech/conversations were really low so i turned it up this pattern continued threw out the movie i watch it with remote in hand all threw the movie :/

at the moment its just the dark knight i noticed this on anybody else had this problem or is it in my settings?

when i setup the system i used the mic and auto calibrated it thats all i have done have i missed something important?

hope you can help.

Turn up the volume of the center speaker by +1 or +2 db, should easily fix the issue.

Hmm, i'm having the same problem with my 805, speech seems muted, but when action happens, its too loud. I am suspecting that its my settings, but i too went through the setup with the mic, and have even turned up the centre channel by about 4dB.

Am I doing something stupid? (entirely probably ofc)

This has already been discussed on another thread, but I don't think you should be concerned about your system. ÿSpeech is normally clear as a bell on mine, but the colossal dynamic range in the Dark Knight, combined with mumbling actors (!), particularly towards the beginning of the film gave pause for thought. ÿIt is certainly true that, if you set the volume for 'normal' scenes, action sequences will be very loud indeed. ÿAlthough I thought it was fun to hear my system pushed so hard - it sounded amazing - it may not be to everyone's taste. ÿI'm not sure how you could easily watch the film if you have to think of the neighbours or the baby asleep upstairs.ÿ
