Hi.

Does anyone know when I'll be able to purchase this TV? I had pretty much decided on the UE40C8000 a month or so ago (I thought I'd bag a bargain with the new stuff coming out), but as soon as I saw this in the pages of the mag, it made the C8000 look positively dull by comparison.

I've checked lots of online retailers, but they all say things like "Out of stock" or "Due in soon".

Ta.

It's a brand new 2011 set, so will only just be hitting shops. As it's a premium set, you may find it on sale specialist shops before some more general/online retailers; this was certainly Samsung's strategy with its flagship sets last year....

In same boat - having read many reviews it all seemed good. Shame that majority of user comments on other forums have slammed the set.
i will play the waiting game.

Claire can you confirm the UK xxD8000 is the same spec as they USA one.. ?

One example is their d8000 has "micro dimming plus" and our one only says "micro dimming" which is what the USA D7000 has

i doubt people go as far to make things up and photoshop their setups and images of the problems :) read about a fair few 46" models that have been boxed up and returned. It is available but as always people have limited stock as they trickle in and then leave Samsung to the various retailers - most people i talked to mentioned they couldnt get more than 8 at a time with no indication when they will get more.
anyway i always read reviews but user comments from me tend to go into more detail than 2 pages on a website/magazine. Time will tell if it was a bad batch/set.

The specs are typically different from US to UK - which is why we're always careful when reporting details from CES each year; European/UK models can/do differ considerably

Once again, you're showing a lot of industry insight, SOSAGES - all that talking with retailers, for starters - are you sure there's nothing you wish to declare re trade status?

I have my suspicions about Sosages, something does not ring true. Feels to me like someone who does not like Samsung and trying to smear the set.

@Beavis99 - Robert Wyld only have the sets on pre-order, so I am not sure how anyone could have one. If they were already supplying but had run out they would surely say out of stock rather than pre-order.

I am looking to replace my 32" Sony (which I have found too small) with something a fair bit larger. This set looks very nice and it sounds like it is a winner too. I am not so bothered about 3D, although some of the on-line apps etc look interesting. iplayer is not an issue as I have that on my PVR, but inclusion on release would be useful.

OK, why would I make this up? I'm sure links are not allowed but if you go to a well known forum site, there's a thread on there where some people have already got their sets, so yes they are in the UK and some people in the UK have them!...addtionally there's other suppliers too like Comet delivering.

Beavis, you joined just to agree with someone else you don't know?

I wonder what the http logs would show in terms of IP address (and possibly even a reverse-lookup on those IPs).

The only reason I joined was to support the other poster who was told the tv wasnt out and I also had seen postings on another site to say uk users were getting deliveries. By all means if my ip was checked you would find I'm just a normal punter looking for a 3d tv at some stage this year! Thanks for the warm welcome!!

i'm just a normal guy who has been looking for a TV for 5 years - to make it worse i own a viewsonic TV (yeah they made them once)

almost purchased samsung or philips last year but too many negative user comments went to go for sony - sold out :)

playing the waiting game still but do have a lot of time for Samsung TV's and even tried to pre-order the D8000 but there was either a large waiting list or no time frame on stock.

My real job involves photocopiers and print managment - sorry to disapoint.

But i would point out i am amazed how different magazine/website reviews differ from user comments. Of course happy users dont often post but the negative comments are offten verified by multiple people across multiple contries.

I still have my eye on the D8000 just waiting for someone local to stock it - had a look today while hunting for iPad's

Gotta tell you guys , whatever people tell you on "other forums", last years Samsung C8000 is an awesome set,may not be perfect in 3D but none of last years sets were .

In 2D it is just fantastic , and remember you could get this for a much more attractive price than the other comparable TVs on the market at the same time.

So i would say if the 8000 is an improvement then you will have nothing to lose by ordering.

Trust your own eyes and do your homework, especially with TVs as so much more factors come into the equation when making a decision, such as brightness of room, wall mounted or not , plasma or LED,ect...
